Hillel of Memphis Staff

Emily Bernhardt – Director, Hillel of Memphis

Emily is a life-long Memphian who has always been active in our local Jewish community. She is presently serving Temple Israel Women of Reform Judaism as a Vice President on the local level, as well as the southern district. She also enjoyed the experience of being one of the first “night group” presidents of Hadassah. Emily taught religious school at Temple Israel for some fifteen plus years, and finds her roots to be well established in Memphis.

Emily advises that her family moved to Memphis after being removed from their homeland in Germany before the war. She feels a strong dedication to her Judaism and a day doesn’t go by that she doesn’t thank her parents for getting out! Emily states “Who I am Makes a Difference”. “Working with college students will allow me an opportunity to ensure the continuity of our community.”
